Grannies Bonnet
I endeavoured to shoot the very last Grannies bonnet for 2024, having removed the flower spikes from all the others, to ensure the seed pods do not ripen and open. Although pretty in flower and a favourite of our host of bumble bees, they self seed very successfully in our poor soils. Their vegetation is deep rooted and ample, creating hiding places for slugs and snails, therefore it must be removed.
Grannies bonnet are perennial and hard to eradicate.
