Sulphur-crested Cockatoo
Cacatua galerita - one of the naughtiest, noisiest and potentially most destructive birds in Australia, but also one of the most attractive. Their screech is VERY loud. If they come for food and none is available they will pull Liz's pegs out of the washing on the line, or if the bath-mat is hanging on the outside rail to dry they will throw it onto the ground, or pull all the flower heads off in the garden.
On one high-rise apartment block in Sydney a group of them once systematically pecked all the putty out of the window frames and loosened all the glass, costing the owners a fortune to put right.
However they are delightful and intelligent birds. This one is perched on the fence around the pool area and is eating a crust of bread.
