The next bloom in the queue will be the peonies.  Most are gripped in a tight ball, just waiting. perhaps for some warmth.  The petals of this red one (I've long since forgotten their names) are peeling off very gently.  It is very sculptural.  The flowers won't last long but that makes them all the more precious.
