Jumbos

The weather is perfect in St Ives today

Here are the two Jumbos, a class of fishing boats unique to St Ives. First registered in 1885 they were used in netting herring and pilchard, hand-lining, and crabbing but died out with the decline of the fishing industry in the 1920's. These boats have been built to the original design by the St Ives Jumbo Association who race them over the summer.
