D-Day - 80 years on

The programmes and ceremonies commemorating the incredible event that was D-Day have been so moving and so humbling.  I can't begin to imagine how terrible that day was and the many, many days in the three months or so following D-Day in the Battle of Normandy.  It's humbling to think that those brave young men gave their lives for our freedom, even to the extent of our being able to fly our national flag at times like this.  If things hadn't gone our way, who knows what flag we might be living under now.
