Anne Frank

We have been to the Anne Frank House today. Apparently every school child in the Netherlands does this visit at some point in their education. It is a chilling tourist attraction in many ways and it has been preserved and assembled to try and convey what Anne Frank and her family endured. Unlike other attractions the visitors here tend to walk through slowly in complete silence reading the wall boards and displays.
Amsterdam must be one of the most tolerant places on earth and it almost felt like a relief to walk out of this nightmare scene in to a bright sunny street with people laughing and chatting without a worry in the world.

If you do Amsterdam you must go to the Anne Frank House.

A hundred yards along the street I saw this gentleman ensuring his dog remained well hydrated in the sweltering heat.
