Boys Own
After dragging him entirely out of his comfort zone yesterday, up a (very small) hill, out of sight of streetlights and tarmac roads, today Himself had his own "Boys Own" day with a boat trip on a steam powered yecht to see where Donald Campbell crashed on Coniston Water and a visit to see the now salvaged Bluebird. It was surprisingly interestingly.
To add to the theme, we've also had a series of jet fighters practicing manoeuvres up and down the lake all week. You have to be quick to catch them!
We have now sampled all the pubs in town, barring one we walked out of as the service was so bad (not necessarily the bar staff's fault, one person, huge pub, big queue) and one run by the same pubco who lost out because of the first experience (reputation is everything). I do love a proper pint of proper, locally brewed, brown beer. None of this crafty stuff that's taken over London.
Having said that, the reason we're coming home tomorrow is so we can go to a celebration at the craft beer pub my friend owns on Saturday.
