The gift
While I was wandering upon a wooded path, I found this resting in the leaf litter.
Some Native American tribes considered wild turkey feathers important in the ritual manufacture of prayer sticks, masks and headdresses. The large, sturdy and strikingly marbled tail feathers were also believed to bring rain, provide protection, and battle evil spirits.
Given that it was a glorious day with plenty of sunshine, a back yard patio picnic with some of my favorite people and absolutely nothing bad all day, I would say that for two out of three, the feather did its job splendidly!
