Loss of Tension

Our patio awning, after 20 years, lost tension last year as a result, we now know, of the extending arms losing their rigour. This kid and his older boss came in to fix it. They found another problem of a loose wall holding plate that caused the whole thing to be squint and we did a deal to pay them extra on the spot to fix this without further delay, avoiding fresh estimates and new scheduling for a visit later into the busy season for awnings! All is back in working order and we can enjoy the patio fully in the months ahead.

Moved by the 80th anniversary of D-Day celebrations - my father drove of DUKW amphibious vehicle onto the beaches on 11th June . . . the same type of vehicle that brought the lone piper on shore at 7.25 BST this morning as captured in many BBC videos and photographs.
