Experts think my county had four tornadoes touch down on Wednesday. We didn’t realize how serious it was until after a friend posted they were safe and had been in the downstairs bathroom for 45 minutes. 

Tornadoes are an amazing demonstration of random luck, pulverizing one home and leaving the one next to it unscathed. No homes were pulverized but some trees fell on some homes and trapped some people who had to be rescued. 

An opinion piece in the LA Times said, regarding the decision to allow Ukraine to use Western weapons inside Russia, “Just two days after the decision, images showed Russia’s prized S-300/400 surface-to-air launcher exploding in flames in Russia, about 35 miles from Ukraine’s northern border. Ukraine could reach it only with the U.S.-supplied HIMARS missiles. Other strikes, possibly also with U.S.-supplied M270 launchers, heavily damaged a Russian base, a weapons storage area and armored vehicle repair facilities. These efforts are helping Ukraine stall Russia’s Kharkiv offensive and undercut Russia’s capacity to attack further west and potentially target Kyiv.” The piece also said it shows Putin his scaremongering failed and it tells other governments that we won’t always demand restraint. 


The US has slow rolled the deployment of F 16 fighter jets so badly that France will give Ukraine Mirage 2000-5 fighter jets and Ukraine will take them, even though having two different types of jets complicates supply chains and operation and maintenance. 

Putin said he didn’t need to use nuclear weapons to win in Ukraine. If Putin used nuclear weapons the West would no longer stay out of it, and his entire plan rests on us growing bored/disenchanted and quitting.
