Oulu criterium 2013

Today there was the criterium race at Merikoski bridges and the route was again very friendly towards the people watching it. I on the other was taking part at the arrangements as a voluntary and guiding traffic at one of the intersections near the stadium.

Oh boy the elite riders are capable of maintaining the speed well at the urban conditions with some heavy wind. We actually had to take away the elastic band from the track cones as the wind was causing the cones to fall and that's pretty dangerous for the riders.

One of my friends actually won the contest. He one of the top riders in northern Finland now but 10 years ago we were riding together at times at the paths and singletracks, just for fun of course. Now I'm XXL sized office rat and he is chasing his dream with the bike. Thumbs up!
