The Locust are Blooming

What a beautiful morning.  My house is canopied with hundreds and hundreds of these sweet-smelling clusters.  When it warms up a bit more, the trees will come alive with bees.  The smell (sort of like honeysuckle) and the sound of the humming bees is an annual June event.  I remember when I was buying this house 29 years ago around this time, it is what struck me when I got out of the realtor's car.  (As well as how much work this house needed.)  Now that they are in full bloom, the next locust act will be the "petal flurries".  When the wind blows, the air will be full of soft white petals swirling around like snow in June.  Buster Black Bear continues to visit each night, just pushing the feeding tray around, and finding nothing.  I hope he gets discouraged eventually.  Thursday night he knocked over my garden bench and umbrella that I left on the stone stairs up from the meadow, cheeky fellow.  White petal flurries and black furry intruders, life is never dull here.
