Hip, Hip

After what has felt like a truly never-ending work week, I've had a really flippin' fabulous evening. Rich and I met up with Adam and Ruth for a quick couple of tots before heading over to the Utilita Arena to see Weezer. Rich has seen them live a bunch of times but I never have, and hoo boy, they were absolutely brilliant! One of my absolute favourite things about them is that Rivers Cuomo, the lead singer, apparently hates small talk and stuff, so there's absolutely no faff in their sets, just wall-to-wall bangers. They even played You Gave Your Love To Me Softly which we weren't expecting, and was particularly nice for me since it is a bit special to me (Rich put it on the first mixed CD he made for me back when we first started dating!) Excellent stuff! Another bonus was that Weezer were on at 7:15pm to make way for the Smashing Pumpkins at 9pm, but we're not bothered about them at all, so scarpered early enough for us to have another beer at the Post Office Vaults. Top notch evening, if you ask me.
