Anniversary
(8/6/24)
Today marks 30 years since I lost my mum. She had complications caused by diabetes and multiple other issues. I wanted to post a picture of her, but I think I've used all the scanned photos already and now need to start going through albums and scanning more pictures.
I finished the day at work and got dressed to head out. We went to Vivaldi at the Sheraton on the other side of the Creek. It took a while to get there, so we'd lost the light by then, but it was good to toast my mum with a Spritzer. (G had the sangria cocktail on the left.)
We then came back to our side of town and had a meal that my mum would have enjoyed. Half of it came home with us. Lastly, we should have had dessert when we got home, but we were so full and so tired by this stage that I went straight to bed but only after I created a FB post to celebrate my mum.
And I have to record being able to watch the very moving ceremony held today to mark the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings. It's always so good to see how this solemn day is marked. Today's ceremony reading out the accounts of some of the survivors who are still with us was just amazing.
