Lovely Linnet
I thought I'd go for a walk on Kelling Heath this morning see what birds were around. As well as a number of linnets, I got a photo of a stonechat and saw a red kite (but too far away). Not great weather today, very cold at 13 - 14C and felt even colder in the strong blustery wind. I timed the walk to coincide with the steam train from Sheringham to Holt, but instead it was a Diesel, albeit a visitor - Thunderer, a Class 50, 50008 (as extra for those interested). Later a steam engine did go by, but oddly there was a diesel at the front and a steam engine forward facing and steaming at the back. Then I watched the second set of the ladies doubles at the French Open, the pair I wanted to win didn't. I've been watching the Men's final all afternoon, a 5th set is just about to start. I'd have wanted Alcaraz to win anyway, but absolutely given Zverev's count case last week, fingers crossed. It's bit of a slug fest and play is affected by the strong wind there too.
Terrible news about Dr Michael Mosley. I have a few of his books and really enjoy his podcast, Just One Thing. I loved his curiosity and enthusiasm and he was an excellent communicator. RIP
