Cygnets!

I had heard via Facebook that the Blackford Pond cygnets had hatched, so I made my way there. There are just four now, although there were seven eggs. I hope they will do well from now on. 

They were in the nest with both parents when I arrived and later the whole family went onto the water to feed at the far side of the pond, with their parents getting weed to come to the surface. Then it was back to the nest and preening demonstrations from the parents which the cygnets duly copied.

I'm back-blipping this over a week later, so they will probably be twice the size by now.
