Seeking God In Silence And Solitude

We came to FBC this morning under bright blue cloudless sunny summer skies, grateful for the air conditioning that was among the many blessings we gave praise to God for.  We began our service with a congregational song followed by the welcome from Chris which included information about the success of Sports Camp and thanks to all who worked so hard to make it happen.  After that, the choir orchestra and all our talented accompanists presented the gospel style anthem, "New Name Written Down In Glory" with Julie C handling the solo verses.  The congregation joined together for a few more songs of worship and praise before it was time for the message.  Since  Pastor Wes is out of town this week, our Connections Pastor, Daniel McGinty, filled the pulpit to remind us of the importance of silence and solitude in our continuing search to draw closer to God and know Him better.  He told us that we must retreat, reflect, relinquish and reject, so that we can receive what God wants to say to us.  He had so many scriptures and examples that I could not put them all into this collage, but you can get them from the Live-stream where he lays it all out very clearly.  At the end of our service, we found out one of the new names written down in glory was a young boy from our church who made his public profession of faith in Jesus this morning.  It was a great day to be a part of FBC!
