This time last year we were all on tenterhooks. My best friend R had been diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour late 2022. There was nothing that could be done, but then her consultant bravely said, well if there’s nothing we can do, let’s just try this and they operated to insert a shunt to reopen her ventricles and then followed three months of hideous radiotherapy.
All paused for breath January 2023 and fingers crossed to see what would happen, then early February completely left field. We were blindsided by her bowel suddenly perforated . We now know it was the blast of steroids that caused it and she was given little chance of survival.
Spring and summer 2023 was a season of goodbyes. No of us thought she’d make it.
Fast forward a year. She had her MRI and check up with same consultant who confessed how last resort her treatment was and when comparing her brain scans, HUZZAH not only has the tumour not increased, her ventricles are open and if anything the tumour has decreased. It is nothing short of miraculous plus the news that they can reverse the stoma. From zero hope to 100% positive future.
Today she came through to ours, the first time in seven years she’s been able to and what a fun happy time we had with not a smidgen of doom or gloom. We celebrated life although we’re all very affected by the announcement of Michael Mosleys death. How can such a good man be taken when Putin/Trump and others carry on?

A happy afternoon recreating silly photos from the past with the kids. A day to cherish more so because we never thought we’d see it again. Hold close those who are the good parts of your life.
