Mono Monday. : : Hobby
It will come as no surprise to those who know me to know that making quilts has become a hobby which I revived during the pandemic and , though it has slowed down lately, I am still making the odd commission.
One can only make so many quilts. I can't charge enough money to cover time and materials, so each one I make involves some negotiation, some barter, and a lot of satisfaction.
Quilting is such a colorful hobby that showing one in mono seems a bit odd, but just as taking full color photographs creates a different perspective from staring at it across a room, taking a mono picture is helpful too. I've put the color version in extras. It's a baby quilt for a little girl who was much wanted...and no gender neutrality for these parents...they want PINK.!
Dana went with me to see Kathy today because she has had a very sore achilles tendon for a couple of months but hasn't had time to do anything about it except to stop running. She has now tendered her resignation from her teaching job and is looking forward to some rehab before they go back to Patagonia. John wasn't at all sorry to give up his place to her....We discussed stopping for a coffee somewhere on the way home but neither of us really wanted coffee. Nevertheless, it's a half hour drive each way and it was nice to spend the time with her.
I went some way to making up for yesterday's 'lost day' today, working on the quilt, which is also what I really wanted to do, and a few odd jobs around the house. I had just clipped onto the Peloton when my phone rang. I had my ear buds in, but the podcast I was listening to (about Edward Snowdon) didn't stop playing so fumbling around with earbuds and phone I not only cut off Dana but accidentally (and unknowingly) called Tim, freaking him out (as much as Tim is ever freaked out) by calling during a work day.
I think I might need a different case for my phone as this one seems to make it less responsive....
