Our previous neighbours gave this plant to us years ago. Ms Google tells me it's a Bear's Breeches / Acanthus Mollis.
Every Spring it started growing with enthusiasm, just to be eaten by the wildlife before it reached 10 inches. Since Oli arrived I started to put his morning deposits around the plant every few months. Don't know if the smell of a new predator kept the rabbits and deer away or whether it was the extra nutrients, but this year it is growing and flowering with gusto.
The weather was awful today. It rained, was cold and very windy. At lunchtime the sun was out and Oli and I braved the wind for a short walk. We did, however, get a bit wet on our after-work-walk.
