Election Special
“This 2024 is the most important year for democracy since it was invented by the Athenians. Why? Because over half of Earth’s eligible voters are going to the polls this very year. And your decisions, or indeed lack of decisions, could truly help determine the fate of democracy, and therefore the fate and freedom of all of you.”
Count Binface
Count Binface was a candidate in the 2024 election for Mayor of London. His manifesto included the following;
Thames Water bosses to be made to take a dip in the Thames, to see how they like it
To solve delays caused by 20mph zones, all meetings to start ten minutes later
All government ministers' pay, including the mayor's, to be tied to that of nurses for the next 100 years.
He got 24,260 votes, beating the Britain First candidate. A few days ago he announced his intention to stand as a candidate in the 2024 general election in the constituency of Richmond and Northallerton, against the present incumbent, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.
Some politicians think that Count Binface is making a mockery of our democracy. I think they’re perfectly capable of doing that themselves.
