Blea Tarn
Thanks for all your comments on yesterday's blip, and for those who speculated on how it was done - here goes:
I got Mike to lie flat on the car park and hold the racquet in his hand (needed the dark background of the foliage, rather than the white house)
Got Mike to throw the tennis ball in the air.
Took the racquet shot as the main image, selected the ball from the other image and dragged it onto the racquet
duplicated the layer with the ball
blurred the lower layer (motion blur)
Selected the tennis racquet from the background shot (racquet only - no background) copied that, and dropped it above the blurred ball layer but below the sharp ball layer.
Removed half the sharp ball, to show the blurred underneath
added a touch of rotational blur to another copy layer of the whole image - reduced the opacity and masked out the leading edge of the blurred racquet - to look like I'd stopped the action.
Easy!
Today - great weather forecast, so we went on to Blea Tarn, but it was a touch overcast through the morning. - for this shot, taken after the sun had come out at around 3pm, I used a 0.6 ND grad filter to preserve sky detail.
Great group this week - almost a Blipmeet. The group includes:
