I nipped round the corner to pop a letter in the village post box in Dallington. It's quite remarkable that this 1880s cast iron post box, set into the wall of an old cottage, is still in use every day; the 'VR' indicates that it was installed in Queen Victoria's reign. It's a bit of a challenge, though, to get modern sized mail through the tiny aperture without folding it a couple of times first.
