A good visit
My visit with Gena and Terri featured lunch and four hours of just talking, and I forgot to take any photographs! So here is a shot of a cloud bridge high above the highway on the way home.
When Lex and I drove north this morning, the sky became increasingly blocked with clouds, until there was nothing visible at all. On a clear day, as one heads north, there is a wide circle of snow covered mountain range visible from the road, but today they night not have existed. But we had good directions and made good time to Mount Vernon.
Then we encountered the first problem. I had forgotten that there are stone steps leading up to the front door, and there I was with my walker. It took Lex, Gena and Terri to get me up to the door. Then Lex drove north to meet her friend Cynthia (Connections) and we settled down to catch up.
I had such a good time and it was so good to be there with my friends. We've known each other for 31 years, ever since Gena moved out here, and as we all lived in Edmonds I saw a lot of them. Gena and I both being psychologists, we had so much in common and we often got together for lunch during the work week. Then they moved to Whidbey Island, which is reached by ferry, and then up to Mount Vernon, which is 61 miles north of Seattle. And as we've all gotten older - Gena is 88 now - and less healthy, visits became less frequent as travel became more difficult.
I had such a wonderful time being with my dear friends. After all three of them got me down the stairs and into the car, Lex drove us home, this time in the sunshine. I hope we will be able to get together again soon, perhaps meeting at some place midway between here and there.
Back to dialysis tomorrow - talk about a letdown!
