Today's the day ....................... for potted sunshine

I very nearly lit the stove in the kitchen today - such was the damp and dreariness of the day outside.  And, as the day progressed, it got even worse.

Fortunately, this beautiful David Austin rose, in a big pot outside the kitchen window, has opened up its rich yellow flowers just at the right time to cheer us up with its own version of sunshine.  What's more, when we can get out there to smell its fragrance, it will present our senses with 'combined notes of Sauternes wine and strawberry'.  So that should be good!

It was a present last year from brother Ron and Margaret, on the occasion of our Golden Wedding Anniversary.  An absolutely lovely gift to be given that we will enjoy hopefully for many years to come ......................
