Hummingbird hawk-moth

There were about six of these beauties on the lavender today and I took so many photos trying to catch one of them in focus.  Then as I was walking back to the house I saw one flitting about on these flowers and it turned out to be in focus!

Jack was following me and my sister around her garden this afternoon, keeping a wary eye on me but getting closer and closer.  In the next couple of days I hope he'll realise I'm not that scary and I might even get a cuddle!
