A tale from the operating theatre

 Have you ever wondered if it possible to pull out of an operation when you are already in the operating theatre?

 Well today in the gym I met a woman who had done just that.

 “Why?” I ask. She had already waited months for her hip replacement.

“I couldn’t face it. I went in at 7.30 in the morning and didn’t get wheeled into theatre util 1 o clock.”
“What did they say?” I imagined an angry surgeon wheedling a knife as his patient was about to escape.
“Nothing.”
So, she got dressed and went home. Now she is back on the waiting list. Again.
