Pollen Can Be Pretty...

..BUT...not when you have allergies! Get out the puffers and pills!

Cottaging at this time of year has it disadvantages...one of which is that yellow coating on everything that is exposed to the great outdoors and the accumulation of it on the water; the wind blows it onshore and the result is a bit discouraging if you were hoping to go swimming!

Another is the black flies, but this time I was spared their presence  as the really cold weather and the strong north wind must have been kept them hiding somewhere.. Bonus!

And then it is tick season and we have the ones that carry Lyme disease; they seem to be more of an issue this year than in the past;  they must really like this unusual spring weather. Wearing a long-sleeved jacket and long pants tucked into socks is not the fashion statement I had hoped for, but better than the consequences ..and much easier to bundle up like that when it is only 7 degrees C! So, I guess, in some ways, that unexpected cold front was a  bonus? A heat wave would not have worked as well...

Today was Going Home Day so, of course, the weather took a turnaround and it was a beautiful morning - calm water, clear skies and sunshine. It is a standard joke that the day you have to leave the cottage, it will be a fabulous weather day...it never fails. So, it was sad to leave, but my turn at the cottage was over.

It was a very short trip this time..only 4 days; medical appointments and a funeral kept me home, but in two weeks? My turn will return and I can head north again.. So all is good.
