My mother and my grandmother. The picture was used on her invitation cards for her ninety’s birthday celebration.
I regret that I could not make it.
The picture shows the wealth the two lived in then. A mansion, a carriage and horses, silk clothes and staff. A husband who did his best to keep up their lifestyle by working in their textile factory adjacent to to the big mansion.
The brothers of my grandfather loved to live a life of luxury and took too much money out of the factory to finance their luxurious lifestyle. So my grandfather had to declare bankruptcy only 8 years after this picture was taken.
