After the Fire
One of the small fireworks we set off on the 4th of July started a small fire in the dry grass. I had a couple gallons of water at hand and knew the grass might get started, and I told my kids to let it burn a bit. "What burns now while we're here won't burn later when we're not." Or something like that. Mostly I was curious to see if it would burn itself out, which it did fairly quickly. I'm sure the recent dry weather increased the fire danger a bit, but there was still a lot of moisture left in things. In certain past years I would have been much more cautious.
Anyway, the next day I thought it might make an interesting macro shot subject.
