Another cold day.. what is happening with this year's weather?

Considering putting the brushed cotton sheets on. The cool satinesed ones are too cool. 
We actually put the heating on for an hour tonight.. the problems if living in an old house with thick walls. 
 In a mad monent we have booked 2 days away overlooking Windermere in a couple of weeks . Here's hoping the weather improves.
