A good read

A work of fiction tells the story of the USA between 1847 and 1861, the start of the civil war. As seen through the eyes of a Dutch immigrant who has become a journalist for the new York newspaper the Herald.

Very interesting to read about the immigration and how those people fare,  to read about the USA in those days but the works of journalism are equally interesting. 

It is part one of a trilogy.
