The Italian Job

Getting here was quite a challenge.

Got off the boat and had no internet on my phone or in the car and so no sat nav as the maps were not available.

Made it to a cafe and used their WiFi to download partial maps of my route. Set off in high spirits.

Ring road closed due to accident so had to take a detour. Went off the map. Got lost. Meandered through the back streets of Milan for an hour in the general direction of Monza.

Eventually found a McDonalds and used their internet to get back on track. 5 hours after disembarking at Genoa, I turned up a tiny leafy road thinking I was going to end up in a field, and there was Jacqui sitting by the side of the road waiting for me. An apparition of loveliness!

Thank you Waze. You are brilliant. As long as I have internet.
