Kirkleatham Museum
Father’s Day here in the UK. It started off as normal, chores and dog walk etc, but it has also been punctuated with messages back and forth asking when is a good time to ring, are we going out, what are their plans etc.
Eventually the actual phone calls all happened after we got back from our trip out to Kirkleatham Museum, which meant dinner was later than planned, then I had to catch up on my two Sunday vlogs I watch religiously and consequently blipping is nearly mono monday……
I always find museum type outings a bit frustrating in terms of blip suitability. There are so many choices to make. What will be of interest, which is the best angle photography wise, which shot has the least people in it. You get my drift.
Anyway, I’ve put 6 of my favourite images together. The museum is about 15 minutes drive away. It showcases local heritage and is a wonderful 1709 Queen Anne building that started life as a free school for boys.
In one of the newer parts, there is an exhibition featuring 100 Years of (clothing) Fashion and although I would have loved to include some of those images, all the sections were roped off at very inconvenient heights for decent shots. Instead I’ve included one of the outside windows which has some cotton reel decals and the foyer layout of old sewing machines - the Make Do and Mend display.
Inside the main museum were many interesting corners and displays. Parts about the RNLI and the close relationship with the Redcar coast. The steelworks which dominate the area. Unfortunately the main blast furnace came down before we moved here.
Then we found the cafe (of course we did) and had coffee and a scone.
I’m still playing catch-up on blip and your journals. Must try harder!
