Braving the weather (it actually turned out lovely even though it was raining when we left) I decided to check out a new riverside walk along the River Slaney.
Along the way were lots of these plants which I feared were the dreaded Japanese Knotweed. It is quite prolific here but the Irish don't seem to get as bothered by it as we Brits. There were a few signs around saying that poison had been put down. So I stayed well clear. only stopping for the photo with the intention of google lensing it when I got home.
It seems it's Himalayan Balsam but Google shows that lots of people get it confused so it's good to know I'm not the only one! It's still an non native invasive plant though.
