Stocking Up, Showing Up And Seeking Up

It was a wonderful morning at FBC as we gathered to join our hearts and voices in worship and praise to God.  He had blessed us with sunny skies, Pastor Wes was back in the pulpit and it was Father's Day in the United States.  We began our service with congregational praise, followed by the welcome by Daniel who also led the choir in a heartfelt version of "We Will Remember" afterwards. The congregation was invited to join with the choir in singing the last couple of choruses of the song.  The worship and praise continued with a few more songs before Pastor Wes had us turn our attention to the book of 2 Chronicles where we find the account of Asa.  There were lots of wall scriptures, too many to put in the collage, but they talk about what a good king Asa started out to be.  He was doing everything right in the sight of the Lord, but that doesn't mean he never faced any trouble.  In today's passage, he is faced with a huge enemy army and he knows that there is no way he can defeat them.  But Asa is willing to trust that God can defeat this terrible enemy for him and his people, so he cries out to God for help and God routs the enemy for him.  Before the trouble ever arrived, Asa and his people were trusting God to take  care of them and they had ten years of peace and calm under their belts----they were stocked up with trust in the goodness of God.  So, when the trouble came against them, they didn't crumble into a fearful heap---they showed up ready to do what God would tell them to do, trusting His ability and not their own strength.  The reason Asa and his people could stock up and show up with unwavering faith, was because they looked up to seek God and His will and believing that doing things His way would lead to defeat for their enemy.....You may have noticed that I exercised a bit of photographer's privilege in honor of Father's Day, and included pictures of two of my favorite fathers---my own 94 year old father leading the music in his Sunday School class this morning and my wonderful husband, the father of our two great children who  make us proud every day........
