Dad
I am enjoying this pretty simple life. And looking for something to delight every day. Spent time in my studio today as it’s another dreich day out. Not that I’d go anywhere….I’m lucky to get back and forth to the studio. H is anxious for better weather to put the rowing boat in.
Since it’s father’s day, the delight for today is my Dad. Brought a bunch off stuff for his book. Somehow I can’t find this page I made on my computer but at least there’s one printed…. And there was no need for me to make blueprints since I found his originals! He had a tough business that began in our basement ..manufacturing capping machines. (the first one was 1949. I guess.…the brochure is in the extra) It sent me to college but it was never easy. Mom was his secy/accountant. He smoked and drank too much and was unwell a lot and eventually had to sell the business, but sadly never got his money from that poor transaction. They did manage to retire to Arizona and he lived to 82, but getting very forgetful.
But my delightful memories are from when I was a kid and he was so silly! Here he is with apron helping with the christmas cookies (take note, grandchildren) . He was always dressing up his dogs who adored him. My friends loved coming over even tho he played tricks on them. Books in our beds, short sheeted. I thought he could do anything. He never missed a recital or a college weekend and was totally devoted to my Mom. Best to remember the good stuff.
