Father's Day

I missed my dad today, well of course I miss him all the time, but it seems more poignant on a day that is reserved for thanking our dads. I'm sure I'm in good company.

My son and the grandchildren came over today, which was great fun. We had lunch and played games, talked and put Legos together. The grands had their last day of school for the summer on Friday. My granddaughter will be in 5th grade in the fall, and my grandson starts 1st! 

I'm worried about my son though - the company he worked for several years was bought out and his department was eliminated...last November. He's been applying for so many jobs every week and hasn't even had one interview. Unfortunately there were a lot of tech layoffs right about that time so the market is flooded. He's been spending down his 401K, thank goodness he had it, although the taxes he'll have to pay are ridiculously high. I have no idea how to help him and he's getting sort of frantic. Egads.

Meanwhile, I got out my Canon macro lens and it felt like an old friend after fiddling around with the iPhone macro for a week with minimal results. I'm not giving up, but it sure was fun!
