Petersham Park

Parks are precious, especially in the middle of the city and a stone's throw from Parramatta Rd.
There are other beautiful parks in Sydney, but this is definitely my favourite.
It was opened in 1887 and has a rich and interesting history and beautiful plantings.
It has a magnificent avenue of camphor laurels. These trees are considered a weed and would never be planted today.

As recently as 2013 the council wanted to remove 36 very old trees, to "open it up'. Fortunately many who cared, protested this, and were successful.
There was also a battle to rescue it from the Westconnex project.
So far, so good.

So it's definitely precious to many locals, including me.

If you're interested I've put up a Vivid set.
