See You In The Cellar

Our last day in Scotland and we wandered around Moffat for a few hours. While Jan and Jude were in a charity shop (again) I came across this historic item.

These cellar lights used to be common, and I remember them from my childhood in the sixties. This is one that has survived, although it has been repaired in places with metal panels instead of glass.

I like the way that the once identical panels are now very different. Each panel will have its own story, so overall there is a small library here. Although the stories might be quite similar.
