Lovely Edinburgh

And of course I took loads of photos. In fact by the time we were on the train home I had just 4% battery left in my phone.

We caught the train from East Linton, so just an 8 minute walk, and of course we were early. The train was 7 minutes late and we pulled up at Edinburgh Waverley at just after 9.

We decided it would be wrong not to have a second breakfast, so headed for Victoria Street. It is such pretty architecture in this road, it adds to the experience. Jon had poached eggs on toast and I had a very indulgent brioche French toast with fruit and cream. It was a huge pile, but I managed it. Thank goodness we did 18000 steps (& many of those up steps) because we also had coffee and cake later.

We walked up and down the royal mile, round grassmarket, up through the Greyfriars church yard (must go back as missed visiting the church) then in to the museum. We have been to this museum twice before, but still lots to see (plus coffee and cake).

The weather was generally good. When the sun was out it was hot, but then there would be a sudden downpour, but they were short lived. Mostly my coat was in my rucksack.

We kept walking and walking, up and down roads we’ve not seen before. Then got tea/coffee takeaways and sat on the grass in the gardens.

We ended the day in a restaurant on The Royal Mile for dinner (photos before the last shower) where we sat outside - there was a canopy.

A lovely day, as always Edinburgh didn’t disappoint.
