A long way from home

This little dog is a sort of padlock, with its  keys. I assume that it’s Tibetan, as it came from a refugee settlement in Pokhara.
For our first walking  holiday abroad, we really jumped in at the deep end. Redilady chose Nepal. I wouldn’t have had the nerve!
I’d recently retired, so it must have been around 1993.
