Common Whitetail

Plathemis lydia or long-tailed skimmer is a common dragonfly in North America.  This one is likely a female since it has white squares instead of a totally white tail.  Photographed through the porch screen while resting on rabbit fencing (that does no good with baby bunnies slipping through that eat some of my favorite flowers)...  

I often see these darting above water too fast to capture.  It's nice that one visited our garden to hang out for awhile.
