First Fir Cone

A fir cone is a kind of flower inasmuch as the cone carries seeds. If it's a pine cone, it grows down, and if it's a fir cone it grows upwards. This, as far as I know, is the very first cone to grow in any direction on our garden fir tree, which I think is quite exciting. (Admittedly, the Christmas Tree type conifer that we inherited is growing in the 'wrong' place, in that it blocks out a large chunk of view from our lounge window. But it is a beautiful tree - see Extra!)

I've been tired and coughing all day, but I made myself go in the garden this afternoon and do a bit of gardening. Glad I did. Now planning another early night. Have a good weekend, blipmates.
