Why ?

Mid Summer on the the North Western Riviera.. Cloudy all day with a strong SW breeze.. We went out for a short walk in the morning but apart from Seagulls cruising up and down like paragliders nothing much else was happening.
And so a day spent shopping and sorting bikes in the garage before this evening,  a last ditch attempt at a blip. St Bees is 5 minutes down the road and there's usually some sort of action. As I approached the beach, the cloud and breeze was joined by rain - textbook midsummer.
A brave couple were wandering about on the beach and pretty much summed things up, we were all asking the same question - Why?
