Traverse
A smooth journey back to Tanzania, with the familiar stop in Pemba in northern Mozambique. When all is calm on the visa front, I don’t mind the shuffling in and out of the waiting room, plodding across the tarmac in drowsy tropical heat and doing innumerable bag scans and paperwork checks. I think I just find most things about Mozambique appealing.
Back in Dar es Salaam, it took an absolute age to traverse the city to the district where I live. Saturday afternoon traffic is not the friend of a road user. Dar is humungous compared to Maputo, and I still can’t chinwag with taxi drivers in Swahili to anything like the standard I can in Mozambique. Must try harder.
