The longest day

Happy solstice! After all the rain this year, the longest day was wonderfully sunny and warm. It seems to me that it’s the year of the ox-eye daisies, they’re everywhere, perhaps most spectacularly on roadsides and motorway crash barriers. I guess they’ve liked the cool damp conditions but also I gather councils have stopped using herbicides and don’t mow wild areas to death.
So flower Friday for me is to celebrate the march of the ox eyes across the land.
