Between fen and mountains

Mist clearing

After a good Spanish breakfast, we set off to return home via the frontier at Puigcerda. The 45 minute drive to the border was stunning. I was surprised how different the eastern Pyrenees are on the Spanish side. The valleys seem deeper and greener. I stopped to take a photo and then went on to Puigcerda. We did the week’s shopping in a Spanish supermarket and filled up with petrol. Many items seem a little less expensive in Spain. After crossing into France, we then celebrated my birthday with a picnic on the high plateau of the Cerdagne. We also drove for the first time through the tiny Spanish enclave of Llivia, separated from Spain, but surrounded on all sides by French territory. It was fairly unremarkable and it only took a few minutes to drive through. Back home, I did some sorting out and sent off our postal votes. Mrs TT is taking me out for a meal tonight and I am looking forward to that.
