A Bit Of Donatello

This morning we went inside the Palazzo della Ragione, which featured in yesterday’s blip, to admire the frescoes and enormous horse sculpture by Donatello (see extra).

From there we wandered down the via Roma, to the Church of Saint Mary, where we saw this sculpture of the Crucifixion also by Donatello; the detail and humanity of the face really is quite remarkable. The full sculpture is also in extras.

Rom there we walked to the Prato della Valle, an enormous oval piazza, where there was a Sunday flea market which was interesting but made it difficult to take photos.

We had a late Sunday lunch, then retired from the heat to read for a while back at the apartment.
