A Wild Caper

This is the Capparis spinosa, the wild caper, also called Flinders rose. It has large white to pinkish-white flowers (see the extra). The plant with fleshy leaves creeps and crawls along the ground  here in Andalucia and is better known for the edible flower buds, used as a seasoning or garnish, and the fruit, both of which are usually consumed salted or pickled. It is properly summer here today, over 30C. We've taken it easy after a few days of strimming, raking and general land and garden maintenance, always essential during the first week after we arrive.
